Why come to Bright in Winter ?

As an ex Queenslander (moved only 4 years ago) winter in Bright is one of my favourite seasons. With beautiful clear and crisp winter days, a very economical package from abalina cottages and snuggling up in front of the wood fire at night - what a way to ensure a relaxing break. Many of the restaurants in town have cosy wood fires to add to the ambience.
For those who aren't skiers, take a short trip to Mt Buffalo to see the snow where you can try tobogganing, visit Mt Beauty and Harrietville to see the snow capped mountains beyond. For only $37 return take the Snowball Express (bus) to Mt Hotham to soak up the atmosphere. Also Take a 5 star Adventure 4WD tour to see trees dripping in snow and waterfalls running. Enjoy a winery tour, go shopping at Beechworth, visit the Milawa Gourmet Food Region, explore the Old Tobacco Sheds with a huge range of old wares and antiques and walk or ride the rail trail or many walks around Bright. Fish for trout at the Trout Farm, visit the alpacas at the Alpaca farm and feed the deer and emu at the Red Stag Deer Farm. Or simply try out our many cafes and restaurants in town within walking distance from your cottage.
Concerns on Use of GPS in Bright and Surrounds
"Bright police have raised concerns about the use of GPS devices after two incidents where motorists interpreted the GPS literally and became lost on 4WD tracks....GPS should not be interpreted literally without cross referencing with another map source or local knowledge."
